The Gunners are set to lose both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah at the end of their contracts this summer. That would leave them without a recognised senior striker, which means Edu and Mikel Arteta will have to bring in at least one, if not two, new centre-forwards. Arsenal have been linked with a number of top-quality strikers over the last few weeks, but none more than Jesus and Nunez. What On Earth Is Going On At Bordeaux?Fabrizio Romano: Arsenal prefer Gabriel Jesus over Darwin NunezArsenal have needed a new centre-forward since January. Romano has revealed today that Nunez, who is valued at an eye-watering £110 million by Benfica, was on the Gunners’ list in the winter window, but they’ve changed their mind now. The transfer guru has now claimed that Arsenal have turned their full attention to Jesus, who looks set to leave Manchester City at the end of this season. Romano told Caught Offside: “Arsenal wanted him (Darwin Nunez) in January, for sure!“Darwin would like to play the Champions League, while Arsenal are oriented on Gabriel Jesus as a priority for the striker position.”Getty ImagesTBR View:Nunez has been a goal machine this season. The Uruguayan scored 34 goals in all competitions for Benfica, which is a truly sensational record for someone who’s still only 22.The Benfica star is destined to join a top club this summer, and many Arsenal fans were hoping Edu and Mikel Arteta could get him in. However, it looks like Jesus is the Gunners’ number one target. The Brazilian is a fantastic striker in his own right. He has scored 13 goals and provided 12 assists for Manchester City in all competitions this season, which is an excellent return as well. The fact that Jesus knows the Premier League, having won it three times already (could be four on Sunday), may well be the reason why Arsenal prefer him over Nunez. It will be interesting to see if they can get the deal done in the coming weeks. Photo by Joe Prior/Visionhaus via Getty Images Have something to tell us about this article?
