The highly anticipated fixture between the two African giants lived up to its billing with the Super Eagles of Nigeria bossing the early minutes of the game.
Nigeria Super Eagles opponents “the Pharaohs” of Egypt showed character and compactness to keep a cool head to resist all that were at them by the rampaging Super Eagles team.
Gradually, “the Pharaohs” of Egypt, grew into the game, came close to take a lead, all thanks to Super Eagles duo of Kenneth Omeruo and Troost-Ekong who defended stoutly to ensure a clean sheet for the Eagles.
With barely 15mins left in normal game duration in the first half, Leicester City and Nigeria Super Eagles striker, Kelechi Iheanacho, broke the deadlock off an assist from Rangers Glasgow and Super Eagles Midfielder, Joe Aribo.
All efforts by the Super Eagles opponents to draw level before the half time break proved abortive as Iheanacho’s 30min strike gave the Eagles a deserved lead at half time.
On re-emergence for the second half, the Super Eagles continued from where they stopped at the first half, came close thrice to double it’s lead but failed to be clinical.
