Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson says Everton will stay up after their recent resurgence under Frank Lampard.Lawrenson has done his weekly BBC Sport predictions column and thinks that Everton have done enough to secure another season of Premier League football.Everton have a winnable game coming up against Brentford and their home form has been outstanding lately, with wins over Manchester United and Chelsea. Those performances at Goodison Park in front of a raucous atmosphere seem to be the bedrock of their survival bid and another huge one is needed tomorrow.Photo by GLYN KIRK/AFP via Getty ImagesWhat On Earth Is Going On At Bordeaux?Lawrenson says Everton will stay up“I think Everton are safe from here, because Leeds’ poor goal difference means they are effectively three points behind the Toffees with two games to play, but Burnley still have some work to do. Everton are not mathematically safe yet, but they have worked so hard to get in this position that I cannot see them easing up now,” he said. “Their fans will not let that happen anyway. The atmosphere at Goodison Park and the backing they have given their team in such a difficult season is one of the biggest reasons Frank Lampard’s side are probably staying up – and it will be the same again on Sunday.“Brentford are full of confidence at the moment and playing well but I am backing Everton to go at them, the same way they did against Chelsea at Goodison at the start of May.“Their physicality played a part in that victory and I think it will be the same again here – they have found a formula for winning at home, and it works. Lawro’s prediction: Everton 2-0 Brentford.”Photo by Serena Taylor/Newcastle United via Getty ImagesEverton could have all but sealed survival with a win at already relegated Watford in midweek and their inability to do that creates a bit of uncertainty and nervousness around the situation. But they have beaten Chelsea and United at home, so if they repeat that same level of performance against Brentford, they could get three points here. They are the form side in the relegation battle and should have the momentum to get out of the dogfight, leaving Leeds and Burnley to fight it out.
