Funding for PhD Research at Monash University and Museums Victoria in Australia in 2023

Hurray! To all excellent candidates who intend to begin a research study at the university for the 2022–2024 academic session in Australia, Monash University is offering the Museums Victoria doctorate Research Scholarship. A $5,000 stipend will be given annually as part of this PhD Scholarship.

The Robert Blackwood partnership is an alliance between Monash University and Museums Victoria that aims to promote and support innovative research project concepts and efforts that result in highly beneficial partnerships and sizeable outside financing.

Concerning Monash University
Australia’s Melbourne is home to Monash University, a public research institution. It was established in 1958 and is the second-oldest university in the State of Victoria, bearing the name of a notable World War I general by the name of Sir John Monash. The institution has several campuses, including one in Malaysia and four in Victoria (Clayton, Caulfield, Peninsula, and Parkville). A graduate research school is located in Mumbai, India, a graduate school is located in Suzhou, China, and Monash also maintains a research and teaching center in Prato, Italy. There are further areas where Monash University courses are offered, including South Africa.

Suitable candidates only. Two scholarships offered each year in the following academic areas:

one in the fields of humanities and social sciences (HASS).
one in the STEC fields (science, technology, engineering, and

3–4 years for the program (full time).

You must talk to an appropriate Museums Victoria curator about your proposal.
As part of your application, you will need to include a letter of support from Museums Victoria as well as a written reference (no longer than one A4 page) from your prospective or present supervisors about the value and caliber of the project.

Entry Requirements:
Candidates must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible for the Monash University – Museums Victoria PhD Research Scholarship:

Preferred Language: The General section of the English Language Test requires a score of (6.5) overall (no band lower than 6.0) on the IELTS and (79+) on the TOEFL’s Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing sections.
IELTS standards for arts, business, and economics are (7) overall with no band lower than 6.5 and (94+). Writing 24, Speaking 20, and Reading 19 on the TOEFL.
All nations in the world are eligible.
enrolled in Research Quarter 1 (the next year) at a Monash campus in Australia as a new or continuing full-time PhD student.

working on projects that are either jointly overseen by Monash and Museums Victoria or that have a strong focus on a particular area of the collection of Museums Victoria.
During the first two years of candidacy, candidates must promptly complete all course requirements (e.g. milestones).
a bachelor’s degree that takes at least four years of full-time study in a relevant topic, usually includes a research component in the fourth year, and leads to an honours 1 or 2A in that field.
a program that leads to a level that the appropriate department, faculty, and committee have determined to be equal to an honors 1 or 2A in the pertinent discipline.

In order to keep this scholarship:

You must abide by the RTP Scholarship policies and practices of Monash University.
You must be eager to take part in events that promote the Robert Blackwood Partnership (e.g. research seminars, promotional events).
After submitting your thesis, you will be asked to write a report on the partnership with Museums-Victoria.
