Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick delivered an injury update on defender Luke Shaw following their draw against Leicester City on Saturday.
The Englishman was replaced at halftime by Alex Telles after he had picked a knock earlier in the game and according to his coach, the player has been having a problem since last week.
“He had some problems last week, when he was with the England team, with his old injury when he had an operation on a broken leg. This showed up again today. That’s the reason why we had to substitute him at half-time,” Rangnick said.
Shaw has been off and on with injuries this season and was back in the United’s starting team for the first time since the stalemate with Watford in February.
He however appeared for England in their two friendlies against Switzerland and Ivory Coast last weekend and Southgate will be hoping that the player is fit throughout the year as he is the preferred first-choice left-back for his country.
The other player fighting for the left-back spot in England is Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell who has had troubles with injuries of his own too this season.
