Leading 4-3 from the first leg and 1-0 up going into added time on Wednesday night, City somehow collapsed as Los Blancos scored three times in just six minutes of football.

A fantastic Courtois save stopped Grealish being the hero
Brazilian youngster Rodrygo scored twice at the death to force extra-time before Karim Benzema‘s penalty, five minutes after the restart, booked Carlo Ancelotti’s men a place in the final.
Manager Pep Guardiola threw substitute Grealish into the action in the 78th minute with City cruising, but things quickly went sour for the Premier League leaders.
Grealish was lively during his cameo appearance and missed two gilt-edged chances to seal a win for City as they led 5-3 on aggregate.
The former Aston Villa captain saw one effort cleared off the line by Ferland Mendy before Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois denied the £100million man with a fine save.
In the aftermath of the game, a tweet posted by Grealish eight years ago resurfaced online that quickly gained a huge amount of social interaction.
However, the tweet has now been taken down follwowing City’s defeat at the Bernabeu as users mocked him.
Ok but Jack Grealish cancelling his Hala Madrid tweet and forgetting that nothing ever dies on the Internet is so funny to me 😭😭😭 pic.twitter.com/V5fO5eWnVd— Desy 💙🇮🇹 (@dwdeservesalife) May 4, 2022

It has been an indifferent season first season at the Etihad Stadiumfor Grealish who has struggled to establish himself in Guardiola’s set-up, often finding himself used sparingly
But former Arsenal manger Arsene Wenger was critical of Grealish’s role in Real Madrid’s second goal.
Wenger told beIN Sports: “When you look at 1-1, when Grealish is against [Dani] Carvajal, he is passed easily, too easily. He must absolutely fight to stop that cross.
“You do not want the ball in the box, anything can happen when everybody goes forward.

“That is where City did not secure the game, defending on the sides. Because they conceded, even when you look when Benzema gave the ball back, they didn’t really attack the ball the defenders, they made big mistakes.”
The Champions League final sees Real Madrid taking on Liverpool on May 28 in Paris – a repeat of the 2018 final in Kyiv.
Meanwhile, City will be licking their wounds as they try to process how they let the semi-final out of grasp and will need to respond with a Premier League title still up for grabs.
