César Azpilicueta’s contract extended at Chelsea

by Vibecity

Chelsea have extended Cesar Azpilicueta’s contract until the summer of 2023.
Azpilicueta’s contract with Chelsea was set to expire at the end of the current season but the club has extended his stay for another campaign. The Spaniard reached the minimum number of games needed to trigger an automatic one-year extension earlier this month.
The defender is one of four Chelsea players in this situation along with Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, and Charly Musonda.
The Blues are not currently able to negotiate new deals with any of them due to the sanctions imposed by the UK Government.
Spanish giants Barcelona were keen to sign Azpi from Chelsea on a free transfer but now they will have to put their focus elsewhere with the Blues not allowed to negotiate any new deals.
Barca are now linked with Ajax right-back Noussir Mazraoui, who is set to become a free agent but will facing competition from Bayern Munich.
