Barcelona tired of contract rebel’s agent, want him to take charge of negotiations

by Vibecity

With just three months left on the contract of Ousmane Dembele, the winger looks very much on his way out of Barcelona. The French ace has already rejected a new deal from the club back in January. But his performances on the pitch since then have rekindled hopes of a renewal for the 24-year-old.Indeed, Dembele has been one of Barça’s best performers in the second half of the season thus far, bagging a goal and nine assists in just 12 La Liga appearances. While manager Xavi Hernandez has always backed him and wanted him to stay at the club, the ex-Borussia Dortmund winger’s contract demands meant that the talks had hit a roadblock. However, there have been indications that both parties want to restart talks over a new deal. Recent reports even indicated that Barcelona had made contact with the winger’s camp to reopen negotiations, only for the club to deny those claims. The Catalans remain firm that the player’s camp will need to take the first step if they wish to continue at Camp Nou. Dembele is believed to be keen on staying put at Barça, but his agent, Moussa Sissoko, seems to be singing a different tune.As a result, Barcelona are now believed to have informed the player that they want him to take charge of the negotiations himself, instead of his agent. This comes from a report by Mundo Deportivo, which claims that the club are tired of Sissoko’s antics. The Blaugrana want Dembele to act on his stance and agree to a deal offered by the club and convince his agent to accept the terms that have been tabled keeping in mind the financial situation at hand.It is also stated that Barça suspect that the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner might have an agreement with a different club – either PSG or Newcastle United. But the winger continues to insist privately that it is not the case and he wishes to continue at Camp Nou.Barcelona want that message to be directly communicated to Mateu Alemany from the player and his agent. Whether any progress is made on this front in the coming weeks or if Dembele ends up leaving as a free agent remains to be seen.As things stand, though, the Dembele contract saga seems to be far from over.
