Austin Eguavoen since emerging as the manager in charge has been doing pretty well significantly in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon where the Super Eagles were able to perform convincingly in their first two openers, winning a one nil victory against seven-time Champions Egypt and three goals to one against Sudan to stay top of the Group D table and as such booked a spot in the round of 16.
Taking a look at his first two games in the AFCON tournament, he fielded practically the same starting XI in the game with his tactics giving role to some of the players who had no chance under Gernot Rohr which is really paying out significantly the inclusion of Nantes’ Moses Simon as a regular starter.
Moses Simon so far in the competition has been at top notch with his superb eye popping performance that has made him the talk of the AFCON in Cameroon.
Austin Eguavoen’s tactics in the team has impact in the brilliant delivery with his mentality giving the players the leverage to operate at their own pace as against the former manager who asked them to operate strictly based on his instructions.
Austin Eguavoen despite under immense pressure to win the tournament is really making a course by taking things so easy and has been making a stamp of mark to convince Nigerians and the NFF (Nigeria Football Federation) that he deserves the job full-time.
This is then against the decision made by the NFF who has appointed Jose Pesseiro as the substantive Head Coach to resume fully after the AFCON rather than hiring our indigenous manager, with their decision most likely to boomerang in the long run.
Wishing him success in the AFCON 2021 tournament as they have now progressed to the next round of the competition with grand style despite having one game left to be played in the group stage.
