πŸ‡²πŸ‡½ Mexico qualifies for eighth straight World Cup

by Vibecity

Mexico whizzed their way past a hapless El Salvador to book a place at the Qatar World Cup courtesy of a 2-0 win in a qualifier match on Thursday morning.Β
The hosts were clear favourites going into the match, and quickly asserted their superiority against a weak El Salvador team that offered little resistance.Β
It did not come as a surprise as Mexico took the lead in the 17th minute when Uriel Antuna capitalised on a rebound and marked his ninth goal for his nation.

The hosts then dominated the remainder of the half, turning the contest into a one-sided affair.Β
With a minute to half-time, Mexico got the chance to add a second after Antuna was fouled inside the box.
Raul Jimenez easily converted from the spot to give Mexico a two-goal lead going into the break.Β
The second half was a replica of the first, with the hosts too strong for the visitors.Β
Were it not for profligacy in front of goal, the scoreline could have been different, but in the end, the hosts ensured their name will be among those in the draw pots on Friday.Β
