Scholarships for international students
The scholarship is awarded to an exceptionally small number of international students applying to U.S. institutions in the first year of their studies. A student’s academic achievements, extracurricular activities, essays, as well as his or her home country, are taken into account. An average scholarship award for a full academic year ranges from $15,000 to $25,000. The application deadline for Michigan State University is December 1. Applicants who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents, as well as those who are transferring from another institution, are not eligible to apply.
The #YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarship program
Undergraduate students from international countries who demonstrate commitment to #YouAreWelcomeHere through cross-cultural understanding are eligible for this grant. Scholarship for College Excellence in Honors
Awarded to students who have been invited to the Honors College, but are not Michigan residents. Each year, there are $13,000 available through the Excellence Scholarship, spread out over eight semesters.
A position as an assistant professor in academia
These scholarships are open to high school graduates from around the world. Domestic students may also apply for this offer, but they must have a grade point average that places them within the top five percent of MSU applicants from their high school. A professorial assistantship entails working 8-10 hours per week on faculty-mentored research or scholarly activity on a salary of approximately $3,500. Selected outstanding students will receive $7,000 scholarships per year for eight semesters.
The Red Cedar Scholarship Program
Alumnus children and grandchildren of Michigan State University are eligible to receive $1,250 annually, renewable for eight semesters.
Scholarship for Study Abroad sponsored by the President
MSU sponsors or co-sponsors study abroad programs outside the United States that offer scholarships of $3,000 or $5,000. Prior to the end of the student’s eighth semester at MSU or the end of their undergraduate career, the allocated funds must be used.
